Yard Work Pumpkin Quilt

The Yard Work quilt is perfect for anyone who likes the fall season.  This 49” x 68” quilt features fun fabrics from Sandy Gervais with whimsical prints and fall colors.  The quilt features 6 appliquéd blocks and three borders.  The center border is pieced.  The scrappy look of this quilt is the result of using a Layer Cake.  The large blocks make it a breeze to sew together.  We modified that appliqué blocks to be able to use the embroidery machine and Accuquilt Go! System.  You can choose to do yours any way you like.

Techniques covered: piecing, appliquéing, quilting and binding.  Embroidery optional

Habitat Quilt

The Habitat quilt is made up of Benartex fabrics of the same name.  Benartex put together this great kit that includes the fabrics, pattern and optional embroidery designs.  The matching embroidery designs are available through the ETO system from OESD.  The pattern is very simple to piece and would be appropriate for a beginner.  The finished quilt measures 54” x 72”.  Because of its fun fabrics and modest size, it would be a perfect quilt for a teen.  Our quilt was quilted on a long-arm machine.  We changed up the binding a bet and added a piping.  The piped binding was a perfect accent.

Techniques covered: piecing, embroidery (optional), quilting, piped binding (optional)

Flannel Star for All Seasons Quilt

Nothing is cozier than a flannel quilt, and no pattern is easier to follow than one by Eleanor Burns.  Combine these two things and you get this fabulous 55 1/2” x 60” snuggle-luscious quilt.  We did follow the pattern exactly to make the sample in the store.  The store quilt features 5 different fabrics, but the instructions will allow for the use of a Layer Cake for a scrappier look.  The stars are very easy to make when you use the Quilt-in-a-Day Triangle Square Up ruler.  This is an excellent ruler to have in your stash.  Eleanor Burns’ patterns are always easy enough for a beginner.  Use any fabrics in the store for this quilt.

Techniques covered: general cutting and piecing techniques, quilting and binding

Dilly Dally Baby Quilt

This is another kit that was put together by Moda and features fabrics from Me and My Sister.  This is an extremely easy quilt to put together.  The kit includes all of the fabrics for the top and we have a lot of different fabrics to choose from for the backing.  If you are looking for something quick and easy to make for an upcoming baby shower, this is definitely something to think about.  The quilting is all simple, straight line quilting done with the walking foot.  The finished project is 50” x 54 1/2”.

Techniques covered: simple piecing and quilting

Bunny Hill Baby Quilt

Here is another super easy baby quilt to make.  This 44” x 44” quilt was designed by Bunny Hill so you know it will have soft colors and simple designs.  The quilt is made using a pattern called, Petit Fours and it uses a Jelly Roll that was already designed for a boy (aqua) or a girl (yellow).  We have both of the Jelly Rolls in stock.   Most of the quilting was done with the walking foot, but we decided to add some quilted embroidery.  If you have an embroidery machine, we would be glad to share our design.

Techniques covered: simple cutting and piecing, straight line quilting and optional embroidery

Glorious Fall Pumpkin Wall Hanging

This great, little wall hanging is only 22” x 29” but packs a lot of punch.  The background is pieced, while and flower, leaves and stem are appliquéd.  Just to make it extra fun we added rick rack for the flower stem.  This is an easy item to make and because of its size it is perfect for someone with limited quilting skills.  Ours has been quilted in a whimsical, free-motion style, but you can do something a little simpler.

Techniques covered: piecing, appliquéing, quilting and binding.

Christmas in the Country

This Christmas wall hanging/lap quilt features the fabric line “Nature’s Gift” by Deb Strain for Moda.  The piece is 44” x 56” and incorporates piecing, as well as, appliqués to complete the project.  The pattern is very easy to follow and even includes a design template and layout for the quilting.  We used fusible web and a blanket stitch for our appliqués.  This is a great looking piece that would go well with most people’s décor.  There is a kit available for this project.

Techniques covered: appliqués, piecing, straight-line quilting, free-motion quilting and binding.

Harvest Time Table Runner

If the rustic look is your style, you might enjoy this black and wheat colored table runner with a rick rack accent.  The pattern and fabrics are from Kathy Schmitz.  Of course, we changed our project up a bit and added an extra border to make it a little wider.  We also put on a traditional binding and placed the rick rack on the border.  The kit includes the additional fabrics to make these changes, as well as, enough fabrics to make some pot holders.

Techniques covered: piecing, cutting panels, quilting, binding

Embroidered Table Runner

Sorry the picture is difficult to see, but the table runner is actually quite stunning.  We used the OESD Holiday designs from last year’s promotion and the pattern that was included on the CD to make this project.  If you didn’t get the designs from last year’s promotion, you can still buy them from the ETO system in the store.  Don’t miss out this year, we are participating again!  Any embroidery designs will work in this project.  Talk to us if you want to make this project with different designs.  I have the table runner worked up in the Quilter portion of the BERNINA Embroidery Software, you could use that file to audition designs.
